We’re thrilled that you’re interested in auditioning for the Youth Symphony of Kansas City (YSKC), the premier youth orchestra program in the region serving more than 400 young musicians in grades 2-12. From performing in outstanding venues like Yardley Hall and the Kauffman Center to working with exceptional conductors and coaches, YSKC offers meaningful musical growth, inspiring performances, and lasting friendships within a vibrant artistic community.

The audition process includes several steps, including submitting an inquiry, completing your application through our secure admissions portal, paying the application fee, and uploading your audition recording. Each step helps us thoughtfully place students in the ensemble that best fits their level and potential. An entrance audition is required for all prospective students who want to join Youth Symphony of Kansas City.  Entrance auditions for the upcoming YSKC Academic Year (2026-2027) are due before Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:59 P.M. 

After registering an inquiry, prospective students will access the admissions portal, where they will submit the non-refundable $60.00 application fee and submit a recording of the required audition materials for their respective instrument (see below).

Following the entrance audition submission, applicants will be informed of their results and, when applicable, learn which orchestra they have been placed in. 

All offers will be made by May 23, 2026.  Students/families must accept orchestra placement offers by June 1, 2026.
