Auditioning for Youth Symphony
of Kansas City
New/Prospective Members
An entrance audition is required for all prospective students who want to join Youth Symphony of Kansas City. Entrance auditions for the upcoming YSKC Academic Year (2025/26) are due by May 31, 2025.
After registering an inquiry, prospective students will access the admissions portal, where they will submit the non-refundable $50 audition fee and submit a recording of the required audition materials for their respective instrument (see below).
Following the entrance audition submission, applicants will be informed of their results and, when applicable, learn which orchestra they have been placed in.
All offers will be made by June 2, 2025. Students/families must accept orchestra placement offers by June 6, 2025.
Current Members
An entrance audition is not required for musicians currently enrolled in the 2024/25 YSKC Academic Year. Current musicians, except graduating seniors, are expected to complete the Returning Musician Intent Form in order to reserve or release their seat in the program for 2025/26.
New this year, students who want to be considered for Symphony Orchestra or considered for advancement from their current ensemble will submit an “internal audition” – a simpler process to determine orchestra placement. Not all students must complete an internal audition.

YSKC Artistic Staff
The YSKC Artistic Staff includes conductors for all of our large ensembles – Steven D. Davis, Raffaele Cipriano, Michelle Davis, Amanda Kremer and Anna Cook – as well as our world-renowned chamber coaches and our Educators-in-Residence, the Opus 76 Quartet.
