If your child is a passionate young string musician in Grades 2-8, Day of Debut is your family’s opportunity to discover what the Youth Symphony of Kansas City is all about.
This free, one-day event is designed to give students a true taste of life inside YSKC. Participants will join a real rehearsal with our inspiring faculty, connect with like-minded peers from across the metro, and get a feel for the vibrant community and high-level artistry that define the YSKC experience. And for parents, this is a chance to meet our leadership team, ask questions, and learn about the life-changing opportunities our programs provide.

Sunday, August 30
Debut Rehearsal – 1:00-2:00 PM (check-in begins at 12:45 PM)
Location: Auditorium at Shawnee Mission South, 5800 W 107th St, Overland Park, KS 66207
Event Itinerary
12:45 PM in the Foyer: Students receive music folders and meet our staff! Students will receive music at the event and do not need to prepare beforehand!
1:00-2:00 PM – Debut Rehearsal (led by YSKC faculty)
During the rehearsal, parents are invited to a brief welcome session with Executive Director Reachel Beichley to hear about the YSKC student experience and program offerings. Printed materials and light refreshments will be provided.
2:00-2:30 PM – Optional Q&A and Wrap-Up
Ask questions, meet the team, and learn about next steps!

-Guidance from professional musicians and conservatory-trained faculty

-A pathway into the YSKC program – participation in Day of Debut counts as your late audition for the 2026-2027 season!
Who Should Sign Up?
We recommend Day of Debut for students in grades 2-8 for the 2026-2027 school year. No formal audition video or private lesson experience are required to attend.
