The Youth Symphony of Kansas City kicks off the 2025–26 season with Opening Day, a celebratory launch for students and families across all orchestras. This is a special day for the entire YSKC community to come together, meet faculty and staff, receive music for the season, and hear about the exciting year ahead.

Schedule

• Debut & Philharmonic Orchestras (Junior School)
  12:30 PM – Doors Open
  1:00–1:30 PM – Program Meeting
  1:30 PM – Students collect music in the cafeteria
• Classical Orchestra (Senior School)
  3:30 PM – Doors Open
  4:00–4:30 PM – Program Meeting
  4:30 PM – Students collect music in the cafeteria
• Symphony Orchestra (Senior School)
  5:00 PM – Doors Open
  5:30–6:00 PM – Program Meeting
  6:00 PM – Students collect music in the cafeteria

What to Expect

• Receive informational materials and your free YSKC season T-shirt
• Collect your music folder for the trimester
• Meet YSKC’s artistic staff, conductors, and program leaders
• Hear an overview of season highlights and expectations
• Faculty and staff available to answer parent and student questions

Students do not need to bring instruments on Opening Day.
