Day of Debut is your family’s opportunity to discover what the Youth Symphony of Kansas City is all about.
This free, one-day event is designed to give students a true taste of life inside YSKC. Participants will join a real rehearsal with our inspiring faculty, connect with like-minded peers from across the metro, and get a feel for the vibrant community and high-level artistry that define the YSKC experience. And for parents, this is a chance to meet our leadership team, ask questions, and learn about the life-changing opportunities our programs provide.
What to Expect
- A welcoming, no-pressure environment
- Rehearsal music in a range of styles (classical, modern, traditional)
- Guidance from professional musicians and conservatory-trained faculty
- Refreshments and mterials for parents
- A pathway into the YSKC program – participation in Day of Debut counts as your late audition for the 2026-2027 season!
Who Should Sign Up?
- We recommend Day of Debut for students in grades 2-8 for the 2026-2027 school year. No formal audition video or private lesson experience are required to attend.

Hourly Schedule
Day of Debut
- 12:45 PM
- Arrival
- In the foyer: Students receive music folders and meet our staff! Students will receive music at the event and do not need to prepare beforehand!
- 1 PM - 2 PM
- Day of Debut Rehearsal
- During the rehearsal, parents are invited to a brief welcome session with Executive Director Reachel Beichley to hear about the YSKC student experience and program offerings. Printed materials and light refreshments will be provided.
- 2 PM - 2:30 PM
- Optional Q&A and Wrap-Up
- Ask questions, meet the team, and learn about next steps!
