If your child is a passionate young musician in grades 2–8, Day of Debut is your family’s opportunity to discover what the Youth Symphony of Kansas City is all about.

This free, one-day event is designed to give students a true taste of life inside YSKC. Participants will join a real rehearsal with our inspiring faculty, connect with like-minded peers from across the metro, and get a feel for the vibrant community and high-level artistry that define the YSKC experience. And for parents, this is a chance to meet our leadership team, ask questions, and learn about the life-changing opportunities our programs provide.

Event Itinerary

12:45–1:00 PM – Check-in (Foyer)

Students receive music folders and meet their section leaders.

1:00–2:00 PM – Full Ensemble Rehearsal – led by YSKC Faculty

Parents are invited to a brief welcome session with Executive Director Keith Stanfield to hear about the YSKC student experience and program offerings. Printed materials and light refreshments will be provided.

2:00–2:30 PM – Optional Q&A and Wrap-Up

Ask questions, meet the team, and learn about next steps.

• A pathway into the YSKC program – participation in Day of Debut counts as your late audition for the 2025–26 season!

Who Should Sign Up?

We recommend Day of Debut for students entering grades 2-8 in the 2026-2027 school year. Talented 4th graders are also welcome to apply – please email hello@yskc for an invitation. No formal audition video or private lesson experience is required to attend.
